From its beginnings in 1885, Midland has had a unique and colorful history. The Midland Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing that history. The Museum Archives contain a wealth of materials available to any interested party, though reservations are required.

The Museum Archives includes copies of Midland newspapers from the early years into the twenty-first century. Many of them have long been available for access in only rare cases due to their fragile condition. Through a partnership with the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University, many of these rare newspapers can now be read in digital format.
