The Midland Discovery A Report on the Pleistocene Human Remains from Midland, Texas by Fred Wendorf, Alex D. Krieger, and Claude Albritton (1955)
"This report is concerned with a partial human skeleton discovered in a deposit of late Pleistocene age, in a field of now-active sand dunes, 6 miles southwest of Midland, Texas."
The book includes a geographical description of the Midland area, the geology of the Scharbauer site, the localities examined and the artifacts found, a reconstructed history of the site, a description of the human skeletal remains, and conclusions about the "Midland Discovery."

Transactions of the Regional Archaeological Symposiums for Southeastern New Mexico and Western Texas
The Transactions are annual bulletins by a federation of local archaeological societies from southeastern New Mexico and West Texas. The specific members have changed over time, as societies joined or became inactive. Among the societies that have been participated are: Midland Archaeological Society (originally the Lower Plains Archaeological Society), El Paso Archaeological Society, Iraan Archaeological Society,  Llano Estacado Archaeological Society (Andrews), South Plains Archaeological Society (Lubbock), El Llano Archaeological Society (Portales, New Mexico), Lovington Junior Archaeological Society (Lovington, New Mexico), and Lea County Archaeological Society (Hobbs, New Mexico).

The first Symposium of local archaeological societies was held April 3-4, 1965 in Hobbs, New Mexico, with the Lea County Archaeological Society hosting the meeting. The event was organized "because of the need for an exchange and comparison of archaeological information from this region. An area where much information has been collected by the individual amateur and archaeological societies, an area where very little information has been published. An area virtually untouched by professional archaeologists.
The following year, the Southwestern Federation of Archaeological Societies was established as a non-profit organization "for the purpose of providing a regional cooperative arrangement among archaeological societies of the Southwest for the advancement of amateur archaeology, with particular emphasis on the archaeology of Western Texas and Southeastern New Mexico."
